common air and heating questions
If your AC unit has stopped working, the first thing you should do is check the power supply. Make sure that all switches and circuit breakers are properly engaged and that no fuses have blown. If everything looks in order, then it's time to turn to Alvarado Heat & Air for professional help.
When it comes to an AC repair or replacement, the best thing to do is to consult with a trained professional like Alvarado Heat & Air. We can determine the state of your unit and provide you with a thorough evaluation. If repairs are necessary, we will be able to tell you what parts need attention and how much it will cost. In some cases, we may even recommend a complete AC replacement as the most cost-effective long-term solution.
It is recommended to have your AC unit serviced at least twice a year, preferably during the transitioning of seasons, such as Spring and Fall, so you don’t need repairs in the dead of the winter or Summer. This will help to prevent any potential issues from cropping up unexpectedly and allow you to enjoy a comfortable and efficient cooling system throughout the warmer and colder months of the year. But don’t confuse this with “maintenance” items such as filter changes, drain line cleaning, Carbon Monoxide checks, coil cleanings, vent cleaning, etc.. These are critical elements of your Air
Condition and Heating system that must be performed bi-monthly or monthly. Maintaining the air conditioning system will ensure that it runs appropriately without working too hard to cool the room. This saves energy and will lower your energy bill.
If your AC unit stops working, you should contact a qualified HVAC Contractor as soon as possible to minimize any potential damage or disruption to your home. Other issues that may require immediate attention include water leaks and the presence of strange odors from the vents or reduced airflow or frozen refrigerant lines or strange noises.
